North Shore successfully obtained car routings from shippers making car interchange locations with the Milwaukee Road, Soo Line, Chicago & North Western and Elgin Joliet & Eastern busy spots. Even the Chicago Rapid Transit Company became involved in the freight business of the North Shore Line!
